Welcome! The purpose of this site is to provide information on my many research and teaching interests including data mining, ecommerce, technology use in teaching, and entrepreneurship. I have over twenty years of experience in IT including experience with Cobol and mainframes all the way to the latest technologies in data mining and ecommerce.
I am an associate professor in Information Systems/Computer Science at Catawba College in historic Salisbury, NC. I also teach both undergraduate and graduate classes at UNC Charlotte in the Department of Computer Science. I own a small business, I Promise Project LLC – you may have seen us recently in the Charlotte Observer. Through this business I own the trademark iProm!se. I am currently exploring commercial use of beacons and NFC tags and have a few projects underway – one has a provisional patent and is under development this summer with students at Catawba College, UNC Charlotte and collaborators at CATS (Charlotte Area Transit System).
I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science/Computer Information Systems from UNC Charlotte and my MBA is from AACSB accredited James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. I have worked as a programmer, systems analyst, web master, and consultant for small and large companies. Recent web sites that I have helped to develop include:
